the colours of Holi

It comes up here and there that we really need a stat holiday sometime at the beginning of the year to break up the long, grey stretch from Christmas holidays to Easter break. We can think of no better way to cheer away the winter blahs than by adding Holi to our holiday schedule.

Known as the Festival of Colours, Holi is a Hindu celebration that occurs at the end of winter in February or March (it was March 19th – 20th this year). People fill the streets and douse one another with coloured powder to celebrate the beginning of spring. There’s colour everywhere! Sounds good for the grey days we get here in Vancouver at that time of year. Sign us up!
